Affordable, timely, and helpful service to students

Proofreading for Students and perfectionism can be particularly distressing. This is because Proofreader requires taking chances and risks. When you write, you are putting yourself on the line. Being judged and evaluated by others can raise levels of anxiety and nervousness too. The good news is that it certainly does not have to be this way. Learning to change your beliefs about yourself and your writing performance can be major steps in addressing performance issues and perfectionism. Many students see counseling as a last resort (hey, I’m perfect, I don’t need help) until they experience a major event – often a failure. Take heart, you are only human.
Professor Write sees 3 main issues:
1. The academic (or student) is deluded into believing s/he is performing at an optimal level.
2. The academic (or student) is affected psychologically or emotionally by perfectionism, in turn, feeling anxiety or stress.
3. The academic (or student) is not obtaining the results s/he wants, despite the extraordinary levels of work and effort that is going into his/her performance.

Symptoms of Perfectionism
A key feature of perfectionism is anxiety about performance. It is easy when you are a student or academic to feel distressed at times. However, when this is an habitual feature of performance, then maybe it is time to seek out some help. Even discussing perfectionism with friends and family can raise awareness through conversation.
